Tumbling
I was falling
Tumbling through the sky
Heading for the ground
Or was I rising?
Moving up above
Reaching new heights?
I guess it depends
What angle you take
Am I an angel with wings
Or do I not believe in such things?
I was falling
Tumbling through the sky
Heading for the ground
Usually when people think of falling
They think of failing
A dream shattered to pieces
Happiness decreases
But for me it was different
I felt like I was falling
The more I did achieve
With each goal I reached
Sacrificing sweat, blood and tears to attain
Where I thought bliss and joy awaited
More emptiness and darkness came
I was falling
From the heights above
Suffocating on the costs
For things I thought I loved
Or was I rising?
Moving up above
Reaching new heights?
I guess you’re only falling
When you have no wings
The downfall of my ego
I had chased it all the way
Always needing more
Taking my breath away
My obsession with success
Seeking validation and the rest
Just wanting to belong
It’s where Grace caught me
Off my guard
Open and unarmed
Allowing me to see myself
See that I have wings
How beautiful
How strong
Had they been here all along?
I am flying
Soaring with the wind
A smile dashed across my face
Falling isn’t so bad
When you forget about the race
As I wave bye-bye
To old dreams forgotten
Liberated above the sky
Free at last to fly
